Bathroom tiling needs a suitable background, a plan for wet areas and a layout that works around fittings. Send us the room dimensions, photos and your tile choices. Confirm preparation, waterproofing responsibilities and any plumbing coordination before agreeing the work.

The part behind the tiles matters
A bathroom quote should explain the condition of the walls and floor as well as the finished tile. Existing surfaces may need repair, replacement or levelling before installation. Tiles should not be used to hide an unresolved leak.
Waterproofing is a separate part of a wet-area specification. Ask which system is proposed, where it will be used and how joints and penetrations are treated. Product compatibility should be checked against the manufacturer’s instructions.
Think through the layout before ordering
Bring a photo or link for the actual tile, including its dimensions. A small room can still contain many cuts around a bath, window, shower enclosure or pipe. The wall dimensions and layout influence the work more than the room’s floor area alone.
Decide where tiling stops, how exposed edges are finished and where the most visible lines should align. If fittings will be changed, their final positions need to be settled before the tiling layout is agreed.
Know where tiling ends and other work begins
A tiling enquiry is not automatically a complete bathroom installation. Confirm who is responsible for removing fittings, plumbing, electrical work, waterproofing and reinstatement. Ask for inclusions and exclusions to be recorded.
If this is your only bathroom, mention that immediately. Agree the sequence and any period when the shower or bath cannot be used. Follow the specified drying and curing times rather than assuming the room is ready as soon as the grout looks dry.
Your planning checklist
- Wall and floor dimensions
- Photos of the existing bathroom
- Tile size and product link
- Shower or bath areas to be tiled
- Fittings staying or moving
- Removal, preparation and plumbing responsibilities
Questions homeowners ask
Are tiles and grout enough to waterproof a shower?
Do not assume the visible tile finish is the whole waterproofing system. Ask for an appropriate wet-area specification and follow the relevant system’s instructions for the background, joints and penetrations.
Can you retile without replacing the bathroom suite?
It may be possible, depending on access and the existing installation. Confirm which fittings can stay and which must be removed to prepare and tile the surfaces properly.
Are large tiles always easier to fit?
Not necessarily. The room shape, background flatness, handling, cuts and layout all matter. Provide the actual tile dimensions and product details when asking for a quote.
