Before ordering wallpaper, measure each wall, check the roll or panel dimensions, pattern repeat and batch details, and confirm the required preparation. Agree the layout and quantity with the person hanging it, especially for a mural or a large repeating pattern.

Measure the actual walls
Record height and width for each wall, plus doors, windows and returns. Photograph chimney breasts, alcoves and sloping ceilings. Room floor area does not tell you how much wallpaper a wall needs.
A mural is supplied to a specific size or panel arrangement. Check the supplier’s dimensions against the wall and allow for trimming as directed by the supplier.
Check the paper and the layout
Provide the exact product, batch information and instructions. Patterns need setting out; the position of a large motif may matter behind a bed, around a fireplace or across a narrow return.
Agree the quantity and any spare rolls before purchasing. Different batches can look different even where the product name is the same.
Preparation before the paper
Make clear whether existing wallpaper needs stripping, whether repairs are needed and whether lining is included. Ask about drying time and the adhesive specified for that particular paper.

Questions homeowners ask
Can I calculate rolls from floor area?
No. Use wall measurements, roll coverage, repeat and the supplier’s instructions. Ask the installer to check the quantity and layout before ordering.
Does wallpaper hide damaged walls?
It should not be used to conceal unresolved damage or damp. Discuss the condition and required repairs before selecting the finish.
How do I request a quote?
Send us your town or area, the rooms or surfaces, approximate dimensions, photographs and preferred timing. Include any paint, wallpaper or tile choices. Surface condition and access may need an inspection before a final price is agreed.
